"The Greatest Education in the World...

...is watching the masters work."  - Michael Jackson

Forget Bubbles, Feldman, and Neverland... Instead, I implore you to feast your eyes on this, the second (and vastly superior) half of Captain EO.  I was forced to watch this 3-D spectacle at Disneyland from the ripe age of 4 until it closed in '97... and practically peed my pants every time.  That Tin-Man's-Evil-Queen character petrified my little Autopia Car loving soul.  Yet, I always left the show proud that I had suffered through the freaky deaky parts for the sake of watching Michael Jackson dance.

I clearly remember sitting in the Tomorrowland Theater seats, my little jelly-shoed feet still far from touching the ground, and getting wholly sucked into the seriously mind-blowing spectacle... the superawesome robot/backup dancers with 80s fros and the hero's glowing rainbow shirt and the jeri curls and the sounds and moves I didn't think could be human. No one - and certainly not this Disney cartoon abiding tyke - ever experienced dancing like that before.  UGH... it was so cool.

And the MUSIC!  When the show closed, I was crestfallen.  Coincidentally, I didn't see it again until a couple weeks ago when for no reason whatsoever I decided to search it out on YouTube.  I didn't realize it but that show left an indelible mark on me.  Suddenly, I was wearing my 3-D glasses and jelly shoes all over again.  I remembered all of my favorite moves, remembered all the songs, and remembered to wave at the end when the little flying Popple flew off the screen.  For these memories I am grateful...

In any case, here is my earliest and arguably most favorite memory of the late legend.  Except for maybe "Billie Jean"... OH and "I'll Be There"... OK, well this is definitely in the top 5...

What are your MJ faves?

PS. Be proud because I just mastered the art of embedding video!! No more video links, darlings...

Thank you, Frank.
