Ice Cream Party!

You may have read about it on the blog, but recently I was lamenting the disappearance of the always adored ice cream social. 

In her magnificent SO glory, the exemplar Rachael decided to be the first to bring the ice cream social back this Friday into our yearning tummies and quench our not-to-be-ignored sundae hankerings!! It's end-of-the-year time and we're kicking off summer with delectable frozen explosions of tasty goodness! Plus, on Friday both our guys (and the rest of the med students) are frantically studying for either the OSCE's, Boards, Step 2s, bla bla, bla.... but that doesn't mean we can't have fun!

Now, are you sitting down? Because I am about to tell you that Rachael has already begun making, yes MAKING, the ice cream from scratch! If you know Rachael, you understand it's not an unusual occurance for her to whip up some gourmet fare with her magical Kitchenaid mixer - but it is always very, very impressive. 

And this time, her culinary endeavor is especially remarkable because (still sitting?) the flavor she prepared last night that is in her freezer right now hardening right now, or as I like to say, psyching itself up to be eaten this Friday is.... Honey Lavender!!

I know! And she even used her own lavender! That she grew herself! I promise you, it's sitting right outside her living room taking over her patio. I'm pretty sure she bought the honey, but really, she would have cared for the honeycomb herself if beekeeping was allowed in her townhouse complex. Haha, and now I'm picturing Rachael in full beekeeping regalia. 

I will continue to fill you in on more flavors to come - and if there's a flavor you're particularly jonesing, bring it Friday! I'm sure I'll arrive with some Ben&Jerry's in hand :)
