I love calling my parents and playing the "Guess Where I Am...?!??" Game. I pause as they take a deep breath to pray I'm not in Istambul or on some dilapidated psychedelic school bus headed to Burning Man. I actually have been sporting around the great state of California for the last couple weeks, and am now in a location I've actually frequented before (Hint: But only via their BBQ sauce and electric guitar adorned airport.)
First. An Update.
Fabulous SOSers... it has been an eternity. Things have been happening, I promise you. Good things. Things I will divulge in due time. I know I have you madly salivating to know these good things. To satiate some of your drooling, here's a briefing...
- My honey finished his externship at UC Davis and just started month #2: Bring it USC!
- Visited with my honey and our dear friends in Sacramento! See facebook for their adorableness... really, I welcome you to return to this post later just to make sure you actually see their cuteness. The dogs. The sushi. The river. The Cosmos!
- WEDDING STUFF (won't bore you with the details... SILK! SATIN! ECRU! THERMOGRAPHY! ORCHIDS!)
- Medieval Shenanagins... yeah, we'll get to that.
- Writing! Rumbum! Lots of it!
Now for the answer to my little riddle...
Haha, I know, right? What the hooey am I doing in Austin? Well, Rumbum is covering the Austin City Limits Music Festival this year, and they decided to add some adventure to their weekend by throwing me into the mix! Over the last few years, it's quickly risen to be one of the Top 5 music festivals in the county. Considering this is the first music festival I've ever covered... well I'm thrilled they took a chance on this little writer.
(Note: Skip this part if you really like Dave Matthews, Flogging Molly, The Dead Weather, Andrew Bird, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kings of Leon, Thievery Corp, Toadies, Grizzly Bear, or anyone else on ACL's lineup... cause I get to see them. Actually, I'm getting paid to see them. I'm feeling pretty good about this, so I'm guessing there's a catch. I'll probably be lured to a trap door and get enlisted to jury duty for life.)
